2019 will see the introduction of this exciting new triathlon to be conducted over the Sprint Distance, 750m Swim, 20km Bike, 5km Run.

Entry will be STRICTLY LIMITED to 750 competitors, so don’t miss out!

The majestic River Tyne and it’s historic bridges have witnessed many memorable events over the years and now they provide the stunning backdrop for the spectacular TRI ON THE TYNE.

A Triathlon, like no other, in one of the most recognisable city centre locations in the world. The Bridges over the Tyne connect Newcastle and Gateshead who act as joint hosts of the triple challenge which combines a unique swim, a fast bike route and a legendary run.

Swim 750m

For the first time in living memory the River Tyne will provide a swim challenge like no other, overseen by the bridges which have long watched over the flowing waters below.

Bike 20KM

The bike route follows the Newcastle Quayside on predominantly flat and fast closed roads which will suit both expert and novice riders.

Run 5KM

The run crosses the Millennium Bridge to Gateshead and follows in the steps of legendary athletes such as Sir Mo Farah who have raced on the same roads before finishing on the Newcastle Quayside.
